Cajal’s pictures

Santiago Ramón y Cajal published his first studies carried out using the Golgi technique – which allows the analysis and drawing of neurons stained by means of «silver-chrome» impregnation – in 1888. Following his intuition, Cajal assumed that the structures that appeared completely stained in the Golgi method preparations were nerve cells clearly differentiated from each other.
